Obama: Not pro-choice enough for some

Pro-choice "extremist" Obama isn't pro-choice enough for some people. Sometimes, you can't please anybody.

'I have repeatedly said that I think it's entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don't think that 'mental distress' qualifies as the health of the mother," Obama said. "I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions."

OK. Let's start writing the bill. Put a closely defined medical exception in.

Victor,

Wouldn't be great if closet conservatives ran as liberals and then showed their true colors after getting what they wanted? People like Justice Souter and most Episcopal Bishops come to mind as counter-examples.

I can’t name a conservative in this category. Lets hope Obama will be the first to remember.

Bill Clinton tacked to the right on a lot of things, like welfare reform. People on the really hard left always hated him.

Crafting a well-written late-term abortion ban would be a good step in a centrist direction. But he needs one on his desk before he can do anything about that.

Victor,

Our President Clinton ran as a centrist not as a liberal and governed left of center (slightly left of where he ran). Actually, I don’t want any type of stealth candidate. I've see my dear Episcopal Church ruined by sheep’s clothing.

Any legislation that will give children a chance to live is a good step.
